What is the Stockyard for Iron Steel plant & Non-ferrous Metallurgical Plant?
The stockyards are the sites for receiving, storing, stacking & reclaiming, mixing and blending metallurgical raw materials and auxiliary materials.
The storage yard of large raw material yard includes ore yard, coal yard, auxiliary raw material yard and blending yard; It not only stores iron ore, iron concentrate, pellets, manganese ore, limestone, dolomite, serpentine, silica, coking coal and power coal, but also stores a part of sinter, pellets and recycled materials in steel plants, such as iron oxide scale, blast furnace ash, broken coke, sintering powder, and end materials of ore homogenizing.
Types
According to the structural types, the stockyards can be divided into closed type and open type.
- Open Stockyard
The stockyards of modern steel plants and coal plants are mostly open-air, because the open-air stockyards can have large capacity and good mixing effect, which can not only meet the storage of raw materials and auxiliary materials, but also set up large-scale blending and mixing yards. - Closed Linear Stockyard
Closed stockyards are generally set under the conditions of high cold protection requirements, rainy weather or strict environmental protection requirements. Most of them simply store raw materials and are used to store iron concentrate or bulk materials with more dust that are easy to freeze or cannot be affected by rain and snow.
Closed linear stockyards can be divided into two types:
– Linear closed stockyards without retaining walls between stockyards
– Linear closed stockyards with retaining walls between stockyards.
The above two types of stockyards are different in floor space, investment amount and equipment, etc. - Closed Circular Stockyard
Closed circular stockyards use circular stacker reclaimer to stacking and reclaiming bulk materials.
Components
What facilities does the raw material yard consist of?
Modern large-scale stockyards generally consists of bulk material receiving system, storage yard, crushing and screening system, blending and mixing system, conveyor system, testing system and auxiliary facilities.
- Receiving
Receiving materials is a process of receiving and unloading raw materials transported by ships, trains, automobiles, belt conveyors and pipelines. - Storing
The storage system includes coal storage, ore storage (including iron ore and auxiliary raw materials) and other raw materials storage (such as ground sinter, ground coke, recycled materials, etc.). - Crushing and Screening
Crushing and screening is a process that raw materials entering the site are crushed and screened to achieve the particle size composition required by next process. - Blending and Mixing
Blending and mixing is a process of homogenizing a variety of raw materials needed by next step according to the target chemical composition, which usually includes three processes: batching, longitudinal stacking distribution and transverse material reclaiming. - Conveying
The main materials in the stockyard are generally transported by belt conveyor first. In order to shorten the transportation path and reduce the number of times of transfering, various types of equipment can be selected, not only belt conveyors, but also large incline angle belt conveyors, pipe conveyors, long-distance overland conveyors and so on.
